HOW IT WORKS:

To pair your mobile phone to the Uconnect System:

  • Make sure your vehicle is parked in an open, outside area and the ignition is in the ACC or On/Run position
  • Go to Settings on your compatible smartphone and make sure that Bluetooth is on
  • Press the Phone button on the radio faceplate
  • If no phones are connected, the system will ask if you’d like to pair a mobile phone – select Yes
  • The system will search for Bluetooth connections
  • When the Uconnect System is recognized on your phone, tap Uconnect and access the connection request
  • When prompted, verify the PIN and accept the connection request by tapping Yes on your Uconnect Touchscreen and Pair on your smartphone

Your phone will now be paired with the Uconnect System in your vehicle, so you can remain more connected and more productive.

To get started:

  • Push the Apps icon on the Uconnect Touchscreen
  • Select Wi-Fi Hotspot

  • From the portable device, go to Wi-Fi settings and select the hotspot name from the list of available networks
  • Enter your password

Wireless Charging Pad
The 15-watt, three-amp Qi wireless charging pad, when equipped, is located inside the center console:
  • Designed to wirelessly charge your Qi-enabled mobile phone
  • Qi is a standard that uses magnetic induction to transfer power to the mobile device
  • Then wireless charging pad is equipped with an anti-slip mat, an adjustable cradel to hold the phone in place and an LED indicator light.

To use the wireless charging pad:

  • Set the phone inside the cradle with the screen facing you
  • The charging indicator on your phone identifies the phone is charging

Your mobile phone must be designed for Qi wireless charging:

  • If the phone is not equipped with Qi wireless charging functionality, an aftermarket sleeve or a specialized back plate can be purchased from your mobile phone provider or a local electronics retailer
  • See your phone’s owner manual for further information

Be careful never to place y our key fob on or within 6 in of the wireless charging pad:

  • This could cause excessive heat build-up, damaging the key fob
  • Additionally, if the key fob gets too close to the charging pad, it could block the fob from being detected by the vehicle thus preventing the vehicle from starting.
 
USB Ports
USB ports allow a compatible device or USB memory stick to playback content through the radio/speaker system:
  • You must use a certified USB cable to connect with the port.  Lesser quality cables may not allow proper operation of all features
  • In addition to audio playback from the device, the Uconnect Touchscreen will display metadata (artist, track title, album, etc) information.
  • When connected, the compatible USB device can be controlled using the radio or steering wheel mounted audio controls to play, skip to the next or previous track, browse and list the contents
  • The device’s battery charges when plugged into the USB port (if supported by the specific device)
  • Inserting the cable should identify the device on the Uconnect System.  You may need to select USB/iPod mode as the “Source” on the touchscreen. (The USB source will say “iPod” only when an Apple product is connected to the USB port)

Your vehicle may also be equipped with charge only USB ports which can be used to charge a device, but will not allow content playback.

When connecting your device for the first time:

  • The system may take several minutes to read your music, depending on the number of files.  (The system will take approximately five minutes for every 1,000 songs loaded on the device)
  • During the reading process, the Shuffle and Browse functions will be disabled

If using a Bluetooth-equipped device:

  • You can stream (no physical cable connection) music to the vehicle’s sound system
  • Your device must be Bluetooth compatible and paired with your system
  • You can access the music from your paired Bluetooth device by pressing the Bluetooth button on the touchscreen while in Media mode
  • if changing the name of the device within the Bluetooth settings of your device (where applicable), and the device is connected to the vehicle Bluetooth system, the system may change the current playing track.

HOW IT WORKS:

The Uconnect 12 inch radio can function as yhour home base for music, news and information, vehicle settings, mobile device connections, and navigation.

Press the Media button on the touchscreen to change to a radio mode

  • Choose from AM, FM or Satellite
  • Store your favorite channels to various preset buttons on the touchscreen

The Media Screen lets you select different sources like:

  • Auxiliary input jack
  • Bluetooth wireless
  • Several USB ports

When you connect a compatible Apple or Android smartphone via a USB port you get access to a variety of apps including:

  • Text messages
  • Phone calls and voicemail
  • Maps
  • Music
  • Podcasts
  • Audiobooks and more

To pair your phone to the Uconnect system via Bluetooth

  • Make sure your vehicle is parked and the ignition is in the ACC or ON position
  • Press the Phone button on the Uconnect touchscreen. (if no phones are connected, the system will ask if you’d like to pair a mobile phone)
  • Select Yes
  • The system will begin searching for Bluetooth connections
  • Go to settings on your compatible smartphone and make sure that Bluetooth is on
  • When the Uconnect system is recognized on your phone, tap Uconnect and accept the connection request
  • When prompted, verify the PIN and accept the connection request by tapping Yes on your Uconnect touchscreen and PAIR on your smartphone

The touchscreen can also access the Comfort Settings and customer programmable features, so you can easily organize the Main Menu bar of the Uconnect display with simple drag and drop.

To use Siri Eyes Free first make sure Siri is enabled on your iPhone:

To talk to Siri:

  • Push and hold – then release – the VR button on your steering wheel
  • You’ll hear Siri’s familiar double beep, and Siri will pop up on the touchscreen. (Siri is ready to receive questions and voice commands)

Siri uses your car’s microphone and audio system:

  • Speak clearly while facing ahead
  • A good cellular connection is required

DRAG-AND-DROP MENU BAR

Mix and match the Uconnect System’s menu bar to fit your lifestyle

With the drag-and-drop menu bar, you can easily customize your touchscreen with the features and services you use most:

  • Press the Uconnect icon on the main menu bar to view all the available apps
  • Tap and hold any one of the icons to drag and drop into your personalized menu bar at any time

You can change the icons as often as you like.

  • Add the Travel Link icon so local weather forecasts are handy ona  raod trip
  • Add the Heated Seats icon in the fall and remove it in the spring
  • Apps are always accessible from the apps drawer

DO NOT DISTURB

To avoid being disturbed while driving, use the Uconnect System’s Do Not Disturb feature to silence calls, alerts and notifications:

  • For those times when you feel the need to silence  your phone for a while

Let’s say you’re receiving too many notifications because of a group text, and you don’t want any distractions:

  • Simply tap Do Not Disturb on your Uconnect Touchscreen to silence the notifications
  • A helpful counter keeps track of any incoming calls and texts

You can set the feature to automatically reply with a standard or custom message when  you receive a call or text:

  • The standard message says: “I am driving now. I will get back to your shortly”
  • Or, customize the message: “Family’s in town and I’m showing them around, I’ll call you later”.

Please note the reply with text message feature is not compatible with the iPhone12

You can customize the apps drawer in your Uconnect 12.0 with Navigation:

  • Select Apps
  • Choose A-Z to sort apps alphabetically
  • Or, press and drag any app to arrange the icons as you prefer

SPLIT SCREEN DISPLAY

Choosing split screen on your Uconnect 12.0 with Navigation allows access to two features at once:

  • Tap Home
  • Choose the two features you want to display

To swap cards:

Android Auto extends the Android platform into your car using the Uconnect touchscreen

  • Enjoy music from a favorite streaming device, like Google Play Music, Pandora or Spotify

  • Other favorite Android Apps as well

To launch Android Auto automatically when your Android phone is recognized:

  • Go to the Apps page, then Projection Manager
  • Select Smartphone Device Mirroring
  • If not, keep the box unchecked

The auto play feature automatically plays music from your Android phone whenever it’s recognized”

  • Turn it on or off in the Audio category of Uconnect settings

To Use Android Auto:

  • Get the app on Google Play using your Android powered smartphone
  • Have your phone in the vehicle
  • You may have to accept terms of use and enable your Bluetooth connection the first time Android Auto is launched

When the Phone icon is shown in the touchscreen menu bar, the phone is recognized and connected to the Uconnect system:

  • Android Auto should launch automatically going forward
  • You can also press the icon activate Android Auto as necessary

There are four ways to use Android Auto with your  phone safety tucked away:

  • Speech Technology
  • Steering wheel mounted audio controls
  • Radio faceplate controls
  • Touchscreen (displays a special Android Auto version of your phone)

To use Google Maps for navigation:

  • Launch Android Auto
  • Push and hold the VR button
  • After hearing the beep, state your desired destination location

Some functions may be limited when the vehicle is not within cellular coverage

No extra app is needed to use CarPlay, but  you must unlock your iPhone the first time you use CarPlay:

  • Have the Uconnect system recognize your iPhone
  • When the CarPlay icon is show on the Uconnect touchscreen, the iPhone is connected.
  • You will be able to use your iPhone via Siri or through the Uconnect Touchscreen.
  • To use Siri, press and hold the VR until you hear Siri

CarPlay also gives you access to third party audio apps you’ve downloaded on your iPhone:

  • Pandora
  • iHeartRadio

To prevent CarPlay from launching automatically when  your iPhone is recognized:

  • Go to the Apps page, then Projection Manager
  • Uncheck Smartphone Device Mirroring
  • To turn this feature back on, simply check the box again

Auto Play automatically plays music from your iPhone whenever recognized:

  • Turn it on or off in the Audio category fo your Uconnect Settings
  • If you’re playing music on your iPhone before you enter your CarPlay equipped vehicle, the music will continue  as soon as the device is recognized even if Auto Play is not enabled
  • Uconnect allows you to make calls on a recognized phone while a Bluetooth connected device simultaneously feeds audio to the system.

Apple CarPlay uses your iPhone’s data plan and some additional charges may apply:

  • For best performance and compatibility, make sure your iOS is up to date
  • You must be in an area with cellular coverage to use data dependent CarPlay features

Integrated Voice Command with Bluetooth

Voice Command with Bluetooth technology is exceptionally user friendly

Operating Voice Command:

  • After pressing the Voice Recognition button on your steering wheel, listen for the beep (the signal to give command)and say the command
  • If you do not say a command within a few seconds, the system will present a list of typical task options
  • You may interrupt the list of options and speak a command at any time
    • Example Commands:
      • Phone – “Call (contact name/home/work/other)
      • Radio – “Go to (FM/AM/satellite)”
      • Media – “Change source to (iPod/USB/auxiliary input/Bluetooth)”
Active Noise Control System

To further improve noise and vibration performance, available electronically controlled frame mounted active tuned mass modules (ATMMs) work in harmony with the interior Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system.

The frame mounted ATMMs contain solenoid-activated weights on gasoline V8-equipped models to reduce vibration and ambient sounds down to as low as 67.1 decibels (equivalent of a dishwasher)

  • As the gas engine’s Multi-Displacement System (MDS) activates to four0cylinder mode, an under hood sensor picks up unwanted vibrations and triggers the ATMMs to operate out of phase with the engine’s unwanted vibration.
  • This cancels out vibrations, helping yield a smooth riding experience for occupants
  • The ATMMs allow engineers to extend the operating range of the MDS system, enchancing fuel efficiency
  • The ATMMs are specifically tuned to the vehicle’s frame length

Active Noise Cancellation is available to help balance annoying engine and exterior noise by generating a frequency to cancel out these unwanted sounds:

  • Microphones in headliner detect unwanted noises
  • System monitors engine rpm to identify harmonic range
  • Module in audio system generates tone
